“THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PLACE I HAVE EVER BEEN…”

“In July 2011 my 14yr old son and I took part in the NNAS Bronze course in Snowdonia. As complete beginners the course was delivered at the right level and was right on key, with clear instruction and patience from Mike we both passed the course and thoroughly enjoyed both days….thanks Mike! We now feel more confident when navigating on footpaths and are planning return trips to Snowdonia, the most peaceful, breath- taking and the most beautiful place I have ever been. Thanks again Mike!!!!

“I FELT LIKE I WAS OUT WALKING WITH A GOOD FRIEND AND NOT WITH A GUIDE…”

I wanted to trek Snowdon as part of my Kilimanjaro training, but didn’t want to risk getting lost and was anxious about going up alone. I contacted Mike who was really helpful and informative. I explained my situation and when I would be in North Wales and Mike was able to accommodate my requirements professionally and efficiently.
I met Mike at the agreed date and time and thoroughly enjoyed the day. Mike chose the route as I explained what I wanted to achieve, and gave me some invaluable advice and overall boosted my self confidence. I felt as if I was out walking with a good friend and not with a guide. I highly recommend all the services Mike offers and would have no doubts in booking with Mike in the future.”

“WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO RE-BOOKING WITH YOU…”

“I just wanted to say a huge thank you for a truly enjoyable weekend. Steve and I feel we have gained so much from the Bronze Navigation Award Course. We found your teaching and guidance excellent, and your patience and calm nature made learning seem easy. The weekend has given us the confidence to feel that we can now plan out our own routes, without the need for ambiguous walking books. We can venture out into the countryside and look like real walkers with a map and compass!
We are looking forward to rebooking with you to do the Silver Navigation Award.”

“Tom and I would both like to thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with us which resulted in making the day such a success,I personally would recommend ‘Off The Beaten Trek’ to anyone wishing to have an experience on the mountains with a professional mountain guide…
One last word from Tom to you ‘ Mike, you and the mountains gave me the best experience I have ever had, at the end I was tired but very happy’.My granddad said he would arrange for me to take my NNAS bronze navigational course next year with you,I can’t wait and until then I will continue to practice the skills you taught me,thank you.
Thanks once again Mike.”

“EXCELLENT TUITION AND GUIDANCE…”

“I thought you might be interested to hear that one of your recent students has successfully led a difficult walk. I returned on Monday from a long weekend in Dartmoor with fellow walking club members. I led a walk on the moors in the wind and the rain following a route that I had to plan in advance but without the opportunity to preview the paths and terrain. I was able to take bearings, judge distances and follow the OS map with such accuracy that I surprised myself – and some of the walkers!! We were a group of 15 and trekked 13 miles with 520 metres of ascent, sometimes following poorly defined paths and at times in poor visibility.
I could not have done this with confidence had I not received your excellent tuition and guidance.”

“AN EXCELLENT GUIDE TO THE BEAUTY OF SNOWDONIA…”

“I went on an intermediate walk, the Marchlyn Horseshoe, taking in [three?] peaks. Mike was an excellent guide to the beauty of Snowdonia, even on a day when the sun remained stubbornly absent and the rain really made its presence felt. His good humour and enthusiasm didn’t flag throughout the walk and he provided a lot of good general tips on navigation, kit and best practice.”

“YOU CLEARLY TOOK THE ASSESSMENT PROCESS VERY SERIOUSLY…”

“Many thanks for the NNAS Silver Course. I really enjoyed it, and have learned a lot, especially compass skills. I really appreciated the work that you put into the materials, and the terrain that you chose to teach and assess me on. You clearly took the assessment process very seriously, and I recommend your course to others. Good company over two days also!”

“THANK YOU MIKE FOR HELPING US ACHIEVE A SPECIAL GOAL…”

If you want to be safe, relaxed and be informed about Snowdon and mountain climbing then the best thing you can do is hire Mike Dean for the day. This was our first ever time up Snowdon and we are so glad we had Mike. He picked the safest but enjoyable route and showed us many other points of interest along the way. We were very lucky to get a great view from the Summit and a perfect day. Thank you Mike for helping us achieve a special goal. Can’t wait to come back and try a different route.”

“FRIENDLY AND PROFESSIONAL THROUGHOUT…”

“We are all very grateful to Mike from “offthebeatentrek” for leading us on the Llanberis path on Snowdon recently. He was friendly and professional throughout and gave us invaluable advice on the best routes and likely weather conditions. Mike instantly created a friendly and relaxed atmosphere so that we all felt comfortable and at ease. During the walk itself, in addition to guiding us, he also kindly taught us some navigational and first aid skills and shared his knowledge of the area.
I would definitely recommend Mike as a walking guide and many of our group would like to book him again for future walking trips!”
